Support Work

Our Support Work team provides friendly face, listening ear and guidance for those who don’t know where to turn

This foodbank is a lifeline to me not only for the food support but to know I can go and speak to supportive non-judgmental friendly faces who are happy to listen to whatever it is I have to say. Penny has become a support to my family that we can rely on and I am forever grateful

This foodbank is a lifeline to me not only for the food support but to know I can go and speak to supportive non-judgmental friendly faces who are happy to listen to whatever it is I have to say. Penny has become a support to my family that we can rely on and I am forever grateful

Last year I lost my job and everything I knew came crashing down around me and I didn't know where to turn. I contacted the foodbank for food, but they have given me so much more. They have helped me find my way through the worst months I have had in my life. I wouldn't have got through it without their help.

Do you need help?

Our support workers can offer advice, advocate for clients with agencies and provide consistent support to help people to identify and work through the difficult situations they face, in a non-judgemental setting. We also have an in-house counselling service for those needing additional support.

The support work team also provide practical support with: Energy Awareness and Advice, School Uniforms, Digital Inclusion and essential household items.

Support Work Case Study

D had been using the foodbank occasionally and asked for some help with his online housing form, which he couldn’t access and a PIP (disability benefit) claim. Both of these were completed, over the phone and in person. We supported D during his PIP telephone assessment, with a three way phone call and have provided build up protein drinks, due to severe weight loss.
Finally he has heard from PIP, with a back payment of £5466.19, and regular weekly amount of £152.15. This is an extra £7911.80 per year.
He will now be able to look for a ground floor flat, privately rented and hopefully get his health back on track.

“Thank you for being there for me. It makes such a difference”
