Cost of the School Day

Supporting local schools to become a fully inclusive community for all students, whatever their family's income or circumstances

In recent years, we have become increasingly aware of the financial and other pressures that school life places on low-income families, such as the cost of school uniform and school trips. Our local Cost of the School Day programme was set up in response to seeing this need, having been inspired by CPAG’s national initiative with the same name.

We have been visiting local secondary and primary schools for the past four years, to listen to students on free school meals, and their parents, about the experience of school life. With the support of Epsom & High School, we have produced a staff training resource to share the learning with other schools across Surrey – just complete the form below and we will send you this free resource.

We are also encouraging schools to sign our End Poverty Pledge to show their commitment to tackling poverty in their local community. Please click here to find out more.
