At Good Company, we want to restore dignity and revive hope to people from all walks of life. We are concerned with individuals and their circumstances and actively encourage an inclusive environment throughout all our projects. We seek to ensure that all our team members are aware of what is required from them under the vulnerable adult and child protection policy and make sure that it is always practised.
It is the responsibility of each one of us to play our part in preventing the physical, sexual, spiritual, financial or emotional abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults and children.
We commit ourselves to co-operate fully with the appropriate statutory services when they are conducting official investigation into the abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults, children or young people (by an adult or young person).
This statement is to be brought to the attention of all staff and volunteers when they join, as part of their induction programme. Any amendments will be brought to the attention of all team members. The statement will be displayed at all locations in which the foodbank and other Good Company activities take place and all team members will be asked to sign to say they have read it.
We commit ourselves to this policy and to the development of sound procedures to ensure we implement our policy well. Legislation establishes that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility. This organisation recognises that we all play a key role in preventing, detecting, reporting and responding to abuse, neglect or exploitation.
Prevention and reporting of abuse
It is the duty of every Good Company employee and volunteer to respond to concerns about the well-being of children and adults at risk. Any abuse disclosed, discovered or suspected will be reported in accordance with our procedures.
Safer recruitment, support and supervision of workers and volunteers
We will exercise proper care in the selection and appointment of those working with children and adults at risk, whether paid of voluntary. All workers will be provided with appropriate training, support and supervision to promote the safekeeping of children and adults at risk.
Respecting children and adults at risk
Good Company will adopt a code of behaviour for all who are appointed to work or volunteer with adults and children at risk so that all children and adults are shown the respect that is due to them.
Safer working practices
Good Company is committed to providing an environment that is as safe as possible for children and adults at risk and will adopt ways of working with them that promote their safety and well-being
A safer community
Good Company is committed to the prevention of bullying. We will seek to ensure that the behaviour of any individuals who may pose a risk to children, young people and adults at risk in the community is managed appropriately
Our mission is to see a community free from poverty, where everyone can afford life’s essentials.
